LO-REV CLUTCH RATTLE/CLICKING IN 3RD GEAR-NEW FIBER PLATES

1989 A,J,L,N CARS

Bulletin Covers:

An intermittent rattle and/or clicking noise caused by Lo- Reverse parallel grooved fiber plates in 1989 THM 125C/HYDRA-MATIC 3T40 transaxles. This noise is most evident in the 3rd gear range.

DATE OF PRODUCTION CHANGE: (Figures 1 and 2) ------------------------- New smooth surface fiber plates for the Lo-Reverse clutch went into Production May 5, 1989, (Julian Date 125), for Willow Run built HYDRA-MATIC 3T40 transaxles and May 15, 1989, (Julian Date 135) for Windsor built HYDRA-MATIC 3T40 transaxles.

SERVICE ACTION:

If a customer comments about a rattle and/or clicking noise condition in any THM 125C/HYDRA-MATIC 3T40 transaxle, the Lo-Reverse fiber plates should be replaced with new smooth surface fiber plates.
