CARGO LAMP SWITCH ON WHILE REMOVING ITEMS-BATTERY DRAIN

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1989 CORSICA

Some owners of 1989 Corsica hatchbacks (68 style) may comment on the rear cargo lamp switch being turned on inadvertently while removing items from the rear compartment, resulting in a dead or low battery.

A new lamp and switch assembly has been released which has a guard added to protect the switch from inadvertent operation. The new lamp and switch assembly may be ordered from CANSPO, P/N 10156485. The 1990 Corsica 68 styles will have the new switch installed from start of Production.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
