POWER DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR NOISE - SERVICE PROCEDURE

SUBJECT: 1991 CORSICA POWER DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR NOISE (SERVICE PROCEDURE PRIOR TO VIN ME103038-LINDEN PLANT ONLY) ----------------------------------------------------

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1991 'L' CORSICA ----------------

Reviews of early 1991 Corsica models with power door lock option AU3 may exhibit a noise from either front door lock actuator heard when closing the door. This noise is caused by a vibrating movement of the actuator on its mounting bracket.

1991 Corsica models with this option produced prior to VIN ME103038 can be corrected by performing the following procedure. Only Corsica models produced at the Linden Plant (VIN CODE E) prior to this breakpoint are involved.

1. Remove both front door trim panels following the established service procedure.

2. Verify the plastic vapour barrier sheet is securely in place.

3. Install two (2) three inch strips of adhesive backed foam tape horizontally onto the plastic sheet directly over the area of the lock actuator motor. The thickness of the foam should be sufficient to provide adequate buffering support between the actuator motor and the door trim panel once it is reinstalled.

4. Reinstall the door trim panels.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
