FRONT SPEAKER IMBALANCE (REPLACE SPEAKER TRIM PANEL)

Subject: FRONT SPEAKER IMBALANCE

Model and Year: 1991 CORSICA AND BERETTA

Condition: Some 1991 "L" vehicles built from: Start of production to MY204943 Wilmington Plant, Start of production to ME168097 Linden Plant may experience an imbalance condition of the front speakers. With this condition, the left speaker may sound quieter with less bass.

Cause: A capacitor was added in production to the left front speaker to eliminate vibrations to the driver's left foot. A revised speaker panel is available which allows for the removal of this capacitor and restore volume balance perception.

Correction: Replace Left front speaker/shroud panel as described in the Chevrolet Service Manual Section 10-5 and discard in-line capacitor.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
