FRONT END ALIGNMENT REVISION POST OFFICE VEHICLES

Model and Year: 1987-90 POSTAL VEHICLES (LLV)

Some of the above postal vehicles are experiencing excessive front tire wear. To alleviate this problem, and reduce tread wear, the following revised camber and toe-in specifications (see table 1) have been developed.

INSPECTION BEFORE ALIGNMENT

Before making any adjustments affecting caster, camber, or toe-in, the normal front end inspections should be made. (Refer to Section 3 of the Light Duty Service Manual.)

IMPORTANT: Tires should be checked for proper inflation (50 psi is the specification of the LLV). Due to the severe duty cycle of the LLV a 3 month or 5,000 mile rotation is recommended. (See Figure 1.)

Vehicles Built after the following VIN are set to the new alignment specifications:

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
