Oil Pump Drive Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 3785  Size: SH
  1. Install the oil pump drive. Do this by twisting the oil pump drive into place.
  2. Install the oil pump drive bolt.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pump drive bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the oil pump. Refer to Oil Pump Installation.
  5. Install the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Installation.

Oil Pump Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 3788  Size: SH
  1. Heat the oil pump drive shaft retainer in hot water.
  2. Install the oil pump drive shaft retainer on the oil pump drive shaft.

  3. Object Number: 3790  Size: SH
  4. Install the oil pump drive shaft into the oil pump.
  5. Important: Do not crack the oil pump drive shaft retainer when installing the oil pump drive shaft.


    Object Number: 3787  Size: SH
  6. Install the oil pump.

  7. Object Number: 3786  Size: SH
  8. Install the bolt that attaches the oil pump to the rear main bearing cap.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt that attaches the oil pump to the rear main bearing cap to 43 N·m (32 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   10. Install the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Installation.
