Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Remove the upper intake manifold duct and air cleaner assembly. Refer to Intake Air Ducts .
  3. Disconnect the throttle cable. Refer to Section 6.
  4. Disconnect the throttle cable support linkage.
  5. Disconnect the cruise control cable assembly if the vehicle is equipped with cruise control.

  7. Remove the throttle cable support bracket.
  8. Remove the MAP sensor. Refer to Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Replacement .
  9. Remove the EGR valve solenoid.
  10. Disconnect the wiring from the upper intake manifold.
  11. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the upper intake manifold.

  13. Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Removal .
  14. Disconnect the wiring from the lower intake manifold.
  15. Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator from the lower intake manifold. Refer to Section 6.
  16. Remove the fuel injectors.

  18. Disconnect the fuel pressure connection fitting.
  19. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the electronic ignition coil. Refer to Spark Plug Wires Not Operating Properly .

  21. Remove the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Removal .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Installation .
  2. Connect the spark plug wires to the electronic ignition coil. Refer to Spark Plug Wires Not Operating Properly .

  3. Object Number: 15090  Size: SH
  4. Connect the fuel pressure connection fitting.
  5. Install the fuel injectors. Refer to Fuel Injector Replacement .
  6. Connect the fuel pressure regulator to the lower intake manifold. Refer to Fuel Pressure Regulator Replacement .
  7. Connect the wiring to the lower intake manifold.

  9. Install the upper intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Installation .
  10. Connect the vacuum hoses to the upper intake manifold.
  11. Connect the wiring to the upper intake manifold.
  12. Install the EGR valve.
  13. Install the MAP sensor. Refer to Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Replacement .

  15. Install the throttle cable support bracket. Refer to Accelerator Controls .
  16. Connect the throttle cable. Refer to Accelerator Controls .
  17. Connect the throttle cable support linkage.
  18. Connect the cruise control cable assembly if the vehicle is equipped with cruise control.
  19. Install the air cleaner duct assembly. Refer to Intake Air Ducts .
  20. Connect the negative battery cable.
