Removal Procedure
- Remove the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Notice: When jacking or lifting a vehicle, do not allow the lift pads to contact any of the following parts:
• The catalytic converter • The brake lines • The brake cables • The fuel lines • The accelerator cables Lift pad contact may damage the parts. Lift pad contact may cause unsatisfactory vehicle performance. in General Information.• The transmission shift cables - Disconnect the oxygen sensor. Refer to Oxygen Sensor Replacement .
- Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust.
- Disconnect the braces from the engine and the transmission.
- Remove the transmission.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Disconnect the ground straps from the engine block. Refer to Engine Electrical.
- Remove the water pump. Refer to Water Pump Replacement in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the air conditioning compressor and bracket. Refer to Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
- Remove the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.
- Disconnect the power steering lines at the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Gear and Pump.
- Disconnect the heater hose from the intake manifold. Refer to Heater and Ventilation.
- Disconnect the wiring harness from the engine. Refer to Engine Electrical.
- Disconnect the vacuum hoses.
- Disconnect the throttle cable.
- Disconnect the cruise control cable assembly if the vehicle is equipped with cruise control.
- Disconnect the fuel pipes.
- Install the engine lifting device to the engine lift brackets.
- Remove the left side engine mount through-bolt.
- Remove the right side engine mount through-bolt.
- Remove the engine from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure
- Install the engine into the vehicle.
- Install the left side engine mount through-bolts. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
- Install the right side engine mount through-bolts. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
- Disconnect the engine lifting device.
- Connect the fuel pipes. Refer to Fuel Hose and Pipes .
- Connect the throttle linkage. Refer to Accelerator Controls .
- Connect the cruise control cable assembly if the vehicle is equipped with cruise control.
- Connect the vacuum hoses.
- Connect the wiring harness to the engine. Refer to Engine Electrical.
- Connect the heater hose to the intake manifold. Refer to Heater and Ventiliation.
- Connect the power steering lines to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Gear and Pump.
- Install the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.
- Install the air conditioning compressor. Refer to Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
- Install the water pump. Refer to Water Pump Replacement in Engine Cooling.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Install the transmission.
- Connect the ground strap to the engine block. Refer to Engine Electrical.
- Install the transmission inspection cover.
- Connect the braces to the engine and the transmission.
- Connect the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust.
- Install the oxygen sensor. Refer to Oxygen Sensor Replacement .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
