- Ensure that the engine oil level is correct.
- Ensure that the engine develops adequate oil pressure. Refer to Oil Pressure Diagnosis and Testing
in Engine Mechanical - 2.2L or Oil Pressure Diagnosis and Testing
in Engine Mechanical
- 4.3L.
- Remove the connector from the engine oil pressure gauge sensor.
- Connect a variable 100 ohms resistor between the engine
oil pressure gauge sensor connector terminal A and the ground.
- Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
- Turn the variable resistance (potentiometer) back and forth for
maximum to minimum resistance.
Does the oil pressure gauge operate normally?
| 0 ohms (no oil pressure)
88 ohms (maximum oil pressure)

- Replace the engine oil pressure gauge sensor. Refer to
Engine Oil Pressure Sensor and/or Switch Replacement
- Reconnect the engine oil pressure gauge sensor connector.

- Remove the IPC.
- Test the continuity on CKT 331 (TAN/WHT) between the IPC
connector cavity A2 and the engine oil pressure gauge sensor connector
cavity A.
