The retained accessory power (RAP) feature allows you to
operate the following components after the ignition switch is turned from
the RUN position to the LOCK position:
• | The sunroof (utility only) |
• | The driver information center (utility only) |
• | The power folding mirrors (Envoy only) |
• | The steering wheel controls (utility only) |
These circuits are powered through the RAP relay terminal 30
in the body relay block. The RAP relay terminal 85 and terminal 87
are powered at all times from the RAP fuse in the underhood fuse block through
CKT 542 (RED). The ground is controlled by the body control module
(BCM) through CKT 755 (BLK). Power is also supplied to terminal 87A
of the RAP relay from the IGN B fuse in the underhood fuse block through
CKT 342 (RED) to the ignition switch. With the ignition switch in the
ACC or RUN position, the RAP relay is powered through CKT 5 (BRN).
With the RAP relay de-energized, power is supplied to the accessories from
the ignition switch. The RAP relay is energized when a ground is provided
by the BCM. The BCM will energize the RAP relay when the ignition switch is
turned to the OFF position and all of the doors are closed. This closes the
contacts at terminal 87 and terminal 30 of the RAP relay in
order to power the accessories. The accessories will remain operational until
the ground is removed from the relay. The BCM will remove the ground when
one of the following conditions occur:
• | A 20 minute timer has elapsed. |
• | The driver/passenger door is opened. |
• | The door handle switch is activated. |
• | The ignition switch is activated. |
• | The lift glass jamb switch is activated (utility). |
