- Raise the front end of
the vehicle off of the ground until the wheels are free to turn. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the power steering return hose at the pump inlet connector.
- Plug the connector port on the pump.
- Position the hose toward a large container in order to catch the
draining fluid.
- Run the engine at idle while an assistant fills the reservoir
with new power steering fluid.
Important: DO NOT contact the wheel stops or hold the wheel in a corner. Fluid
will stop and the pump will be in pressure relief mode. A sudden overflow
from the reservoir may develop if the wheel is held at a stop.
- Turn the steering wheel from stop to stop.
- Install all of the pipes and the hoses.
- Fill the system with new power steering fluid.
- Bleed the system.

- Operate the engine for about 15 minutes.
- Continue until the draining fluid is clear.
- If foreign material is evident in the fluid, replace all of the
hoses.
- Disassemble and clean all of the power steering components.
- Do not reuse any drained power steering fluid.
