Tools Required
J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers
Removal Procedure
- Remove the PCM. Refer to
Powertrain Control Module Replacement
in Engine Controls -
2.2L, or
Powertrain Control Module Replacement
in Engine Controls - 4.3L.
Important: Do not disconnect wiring harness to PCM.
- Using the J 38185
reposition the hose clamp.
- Remove the hose from the coolant recovery reservoir.
- Remove the coolant recovery reservoir retaining nuts.
- Remove the coolant recovery reservoir.
- Drain the coolant from the reservoir.
Installation Procedure
- Install the coolant recovery reservoir.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Tighten the reservoir retaining nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 8-11 N·m (6-8 lb ft).
- Install the hose to the
coolant recovery reservoir.
- Using the J 38185
reposition the hose clamp.
- Install the PCM. Refer to
Powertrain Control Module Replacement
in Engine Controls - 2.2L,
or
Powertrain Control Module Replacement
in Engine Controls - 4.3L.
- Add coolant to reservoir. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
