High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement Utility - Roof Mounted

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 293670  Size: SH
  1. Remove the screws that retain the high mount stop lamp to the roof.
  2. Remove the high mount stop lamp from the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  4. Pull the wiring harness connector through the hole in the roof and disconnect the electrical connector.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the wiring harness connector to the high mounted stop lamp.

  2. Object Number: 293670  Size: SH
  3. Install the high mount stop lamp to the vehicle.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the screws that retain the high mount stop lamp to the roof.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the high mount stop lamp screws to 1.4 N·m (12 lb in).

High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement Utility - Endgate Window

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 293676  Size: SH
  1. Remove the screws that retain the high mount stop lamp to the endgate window.
  2. Remove the high mount stop lamp from the vehicle.
  3. Pull the rubber grommet from the body at the top of the endgate opening in order to remove the electrical connector.
  4. Pull the electrical connector through the hole in the body and disconnect.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the electrical connector and push the connector through the hole in the body in order to install the electrical connector.
  2. Insert the rubber grommet into the hole in order to ensure that the hole is properly seated.

  3. Object Number: 293676  Size: SH
  4. Install the high mount stop lamp to the vehicle.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   6. Install the screws that retain the high mount stop lamp to the endgate window.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the high mount stop lamp screws to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement Pickup

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Squeeze the release tabs in order to remove the dome lamp lens.
  3. Remove the dome lamp bulb.

  4. Object Number: 293667  Size: SH
  5. Remove the screws that retain the dome lamp base to the high mount stop lamp from inside the vehicle.
  6. Remove the dome lamp base from the vehicle.
  7. Disconnect the body wiring harness from the dome lamp/high mount stop lamp.
  8. Remove the high mount stop lamp from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 293667  Size: SH
  1. Install the high mount stop lamp to the vehicle.
  2. Connect the body wiring harness to the dome lamp/high mount stop lamp.
  3. Install the dome lamp base to the vehicle.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the screws that retain the dome lamp base to the high mount stop lamp from inside the vehicle.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  7. Install the dome lamp bulb.
  8. Squeeze the lens in order to install the dome lamp lens.
  9. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical
