Connector End View Reference: Wiper/Washer Connector End Views

DEFINITION: The headlamp washers are inoperative, the windshield washers, and park lamps operate normal.

Go to Symptoms - Wiper/Washer Systems

1. Turn the ignition ON.
2. Turn the headlamps ON.
3. Press the windshield washer switch.

Do the headlamp washers operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

1. Disconnect the headlamp washer pump connector.
2. Connect a test lamp across the harness connector terminals.
3. Turn the ignition ON.
4. Turn the headlamps ON.
5. Press the windshield washer switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 14

1. Disconnect the headlamp washer pump relay.
2. Connect a test lamp from the battery positive voltage supply circuit terminal to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

1. Connect a test lamp from the windshield washer pump control circuit terminal to a good ground.
2. Turn the ignition ON.
3. Press the windshield washer switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

1. Connect a test lamp from the front park lamp voltage supply circuit terminal to a good ground.
2. Turn the headlamp switch ON.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp from battery positive voltage to the headlamp washer pump relay ground circuit terminal.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the headlamp washer pump supply circuit for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 18

Test the headlamp washer pump ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open or short to ground in the headlamp washer pump relay battery positive voltage supply circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the headlamp washer relay control circuit for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the front park lamp voltage supply circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Repair the headlamp washer pump relay ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 18

Inspect for poor connections at the headlamp washer pump. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the headlamp washer pump.
