Front Side Door Molding Replacement Chevrolet

Tools Required

J 25070 Heat Gun

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 599107  Size: SH
  1. Heat the body side molding using aJ 25070 . Hold the heat gun approximately 152 mm (6 in) from surface.
  2. Apply heat using a circular motion for about 30 seconds.

    Important: Be careful not to scratch or chip the paint.

  3. Pull the body side molding from the panel surface using a flat-bladed tool.
  4. Remove all adhesive from the body panel and the back of the body side molding using a 3M™ scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk 3M™ P/N 07501 or equivalent.
  5. Clean the body panel using Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha.

Installation Procedure

  1. Warm body panel with a heat lamp or heat gun to a minimum of 21°C (70°F).
  2. Peel the backing from the front end of the body side molding.
  3. Important: Do not touch the adhesive backing.

  4. Press the body side molding to the body while continuing to remove the backing.
  5. Hand roll the body side molding to the body in order to ensure proper adhesion.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the door side rear trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the molding from the vehicle using the following procedure:
  3. 2.1. Heat the door side molding using aJ 25070 . Hold the heat gun approximately 152 mm (6 in) from surface.

    Apply heat using a circular motion for about 30 seconds.

            Important: Be careful not to scratch or chip the paint.

    2.2. Peel the door side molding from the panel surface using a flat-bladed tool.
    2.3. Push the molding clip back through the body panel from the inside.
  4. Remove all adhesive from the body panel and the back of the door side molding using a 3M™ scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk 3M™ P/N 07501 or equivalent.
  5. Clean the body panel using Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha.

  1. Warm body panel with a heat lamp or heat gun to a minimum of 21°C (70°F).
  2. Peel the backing from the front end of the door side molding.
  3. Important: Do not touch the adhesive backing.

  4. Press the door side molding to the body. Ensure that the molding clips are aligned with the body holes.
  5. Hand roll the door side molding to the body in order to ensure proper adhesion.

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 602425  Size: SH
  1. Remove the molding from the vehicle using the following procedure:
  2. 1.1. Remove 2 screws from the door lower hem.
    1.2. Heat the door side molding using aJ 25070 . Hold the heat gun approximately 152 mm (6 in) from surface.

    Apply heat using a circular motion for about 30 seconds.

            Important: Be careful not to scratch or chip the paint.

    1.3. Peel the door side molding from the panel surface using a flat-bladed tool.
    1.4. Push the molding clip back through the body panel from the inside.
    1.5. Remove the molding from the retainer plate.
  3. Remove all adhesive from the body panel and the back of the door side molding using a 3M™ scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk 3M™ P/N 07501 or equivalent.
  4. Clean the body panel using Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 602425  Size: SH
  1. Ensure the painted body surface in the tape contact area is clean and dry.
  2. Warm body panel with a heat lamp or heat gun to a minimum of 21°C (70°F).
  3. Load the upper flange of the door molding horizontally inboard to the top of the retainer plate allowing the top flange of the molding to engage the channel at the top of the retainer.
  4. Pull the backing from the front end of the door side molding.
  5. Important: Do not touch the adhesive backing.

  6. Press the door side molding to the body. Ensure that the molding clips are aligned with the body holes.
  7. Install 2 screws through the holes in the door hem into the boss at each lower corner of the molding.
  8. Hand roll the door side molding to the body in order to ensure proper adhesion.
