Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement Utility
Tools Required
J 38778 Door Trim
Pad and Garnish Clip Remover
Removal Procedure
- Remove the window weatherstrip. Refer to
Rear Side Door Window Weatherstrip Replacement
.
- Remove the door handle bezel. Refer to
Door Inside Handle Bezel Replacement
.
- Remove the window regulator handle, if equipped. Refer to
Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement
.
- Remove the power window switch, if equipped. Refer to
Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement
.
- Remove the trim panel
screws from the armrest. Carefully pry off the cover using a flat-bladed tool.
- Use the J 38778
in order to release the door trim panel retainers.
- Remove the door trim panel from the door.
Installation Procedure
- Install the door trim
panel to the door.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the trim
panel armrest screws to the armrest.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).
- Position the cover and snap the cover into place.
- Install the power window switch, if equipped. Refer to
Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement
.
- Install the window regulator handle, if equipped. Refer to
Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement
.
- Install the inside door handle bezel. Refer to
Door Inside Handle Bezel Replacement
.
- Install the window weatherstrip. Refer to
Rear Side Door Window Weatherstrip Replacement
.
Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement Extended Cab P/U Only

Removal Procedure
- Remove the bottom anchor
bolt on the seat belt.
- Remove the trim cover of the shoulder belt opening.
- Using the J 38778
, remove the trim panel retainers from the rear side door.
- Feed the seat belt through the trim panel.
Installation Procedure
- Feed the seat belt through
the trim panel.
- Install the trim panel to the rear side door.
- Install the trim cover of the shoulder belt opening.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring

- Install the bottom
anchor bolt on the front seat belt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 70 N·m (52 lb ft).
