Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information

1. Observe the following parameters in body control module (BCM) data list:

•	Driver Door Jamb Sw.

•	Psgr. Door Jamb/Door Handle Switches

•	Rear Door Ajar

•	Liftglass/Rear Gate

2. Open and close each door/liftgate while observing the respective parameter.

Does the scan tool display change from On to Off?

Go to Step 3

Go to Symptoms - Lighting Systems in Lighting Systems

1. Observe the RAP Relay parameter under BCM outputs.
2. Close all of the doors.
3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
4. Wait 5 seconds then turn the ignition OFF.
5. Wait the time-out for retained accessory power (RAP).

Did the scan tool display On, then time-out and display Off?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 12

1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Disconnect the RAP relay.
3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
4. With a test lamp that is connected to a good ground, probe the battery positive voltage circuits of the RAP relay.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 10

1. Connect a test lamp between the relay coil circuits of the RAP relay.
2. Close all the doors.
3. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
4. Turn OFF the ignition.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 6

Test the RAP relay control circuit for an open or short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

Go to Step 12

1. Connect a fused wire jumper across the relay switched circuits of the RAP relay.
2. Close all the doors.
3. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
4. Turn OFF the ignition.
5. Attempt to operate the devices powered by the RAP relay.

Do the devices powered by the RAP relay operate normally?

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 8

Repair the RAP relay switch output circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 14

Inspect for poor connections at the RAP relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

Go to Step 11

Repair the RAP relay supply voltage circuits for a short to ground or open. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

Replace the RAP relay.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 14

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.

Did you complete the procedure?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
