THE 1996 WARRANTY AND OWNER ASSISTANCE INFORMATION BOOKLETS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING WARRANTY INFORMATION:
WHAT IS COVERED
THE TIRES SUPPLIED WITH YOUR VEHICLE ARE COVERED AGAINST DEFECTS IN MATERIAL OR WORKMANSHIP UNDER THE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER COVERAGE. ANY TIRE REPLACED UNDER THE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER COVERAGE WILL CONTINUE TO BE COVERED FOR THE REMAINING PORTION OF THE NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY.
FOLLOWING EXPIRATION OF THE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER COVERAGE, TIRES MAY CONTINUE TO BE COVERED UNDER THE TIRE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. REVIEW THE TIRE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY BOOKLET OR CONSULT THE TIRE MANUFACTURER'S DISTRIBUTOR FOR SPECIFIC DETAILS.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED
NORMAL TIRE WEAR OR WEAR OUT IS NOT COVERED. ROAD HAZARD DAMAGE SUCH AS PUNCTURES, CUTS, SNAGS AND BREAKS RESULTING FROM POTHOLE IMPACT, CURB IMPACT, OR FROM OTHER OBJECTS, IS NOT COVERED. ALSO, DAMAGE FROM IMPROPER INFLATION, SPINNING (AS WHEN STUCK IN MUD OR SNOW), TIRE CHAINS, RACING, IMPROPER MOUNTING OR DISMOUNTING, MISUSE, NEGLIGENCE, ALTERATION, VANDALISM, OR MISAPPLICATION IS NOT COVERED.
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY
THE TIRE WARRANTY COVERAGE INCLUDES A PROVISION WHICH ALLOWS THE CUSTOMER TO GO TO EITHER AN AUTHORIZED GM DIVISION NAMEPLATE DEALER, OR TIRE DEALER FOR THE BRAND OF TIRES ON THE VEHICLE, FOR THE WARRANTY SERVICE. THIS PROVISION ALLOWS FOR THE TIRE WARRANTY SERVICE AT THE FIRST POINT OF CUSTOMER CONTACT.
TIRE DIAGNOSIS AND REPLACEMENT TIRE PROCUREMENT
THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES APPLY FOR HANDLING CUSTOMER REQUESTS FOR TIRE WARRANTY ASSISTANCE:
* DETERMINE VEHICLE ELIGIBILITY FOR TIRE WARRANTY COVERAGE. IF BEYOND THE TIME OR MILEAGE LIMITS OF THE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER COVERAGE, THE CUSTOMER MAY BE ENTITLED TO COVERAGE UNDER THE TIRE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY.
* DETERMINE THAT TIRES ARE OEM AND HAVE A TPC (GM TIRE PERFORMANCE CRITERIA) NUMBER ON THE SIDEWALL.
* IF IT IS DETERMINED THAT A WARRANTY REPLACEMENT TIRE IS NEEDED, A "GENERAL MOTORS TIRE REQUISITION AND RETURN DOCUMENT" IS TO BE COMPLETED BY DEALER (A COPY OF THE FORM IS ATTACHED). DEALER IS TO REPRODUCE THE FORM LOCALLY AS NEEDED. THIS DOCUMENT REQUIRES INFORMATION CONCERNING THE OWNER, VEHICLE, REMOVED TIRE, AND REASON FOR TIRE REPLACEMENT.
* THE REMOVED TIRE INFORMATION INCLUDES THE DOT NUMBER AND TPC (GM TIRE PERFORMANCE CRITERIA) NUMBERS FROM THE TIRE'S SIDEWALL. CORRECT TIRE SIZES CAN BE VERIFIED BY CHECKING THE TIRE PLACARD LOCATED ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR EDGE OR ON THE INSIDE OF THE DECK LID.
* ONCE THE DOCUMENT INFORMATION IS COMPLETED, DEALER IS TO OBTAIN WARRANTY REPLACEMENT TIRE(S) THROUGH THE LOCAL TIRE DEALER. THE LOCAL TIRE DEALER WILL PROVIDE WARRANTY REPLACEMENT TIRES AT NO-CHARGE. DEALERS ARE NOT TO PURCHASE WARRANTY REPLACEMENT TIRES.
* GM DEALER IS TO MAKE TWO (2) PHOTOCOPIES OF THE "GM TIRE REQUISITION AND RETURN DOCUMENT" PLUS TWO (2) PHOTOCOPIES OF THE OPEN R.O. AND STAPLE IN SETS. PROVIDE ONE SET OF THE STAPLED DOCUMENT WITH AN OPEN R.O. TO THE TIRE DEALER. PROVIDE ONE SET OF THE STAPLED DOCUMENT AND CLOSED R.O. TO THE TIRE MANUFACTURER AFFIXED TO THE RETURN TIRE.
* IN THE EVENT ASSISTANCE BEYOND THE LOCAL TIRE DEALER IS NEEDED, CONTACT THE TIRE MANUFACTURER USING THEIR TOLL-FREE ASSISTANCE NUMBERS AS FOLLOWS:

SUBMITTING A WARRANTY CLAIM
IN THE EVENT ONE OR MORE TIRES ARE REPLACED, A $25 ADMINISTRATIVE ALLOWANCE IS TO BE SUBMITTED AS A NET ITEM PER REPAIR ORDER. ANY SUBLET CHARGES FOR MOUNTING AND BALANCING BY THE TIRE DEALER ARE TO BE SUBMITTED AS A NET ITEM.

WARRANTED TIRE DISPOSITION
USING A TIRE CRAYON, CIRCLE THE AREA OF THE TIRE INDICATING THE REASON FOR REPLACEMENT. PLACE THE STAPLED COPY OF TIRE MANUFACTURER'S "GENERAL MOTORS TIRE REQUISITION AND RETURN DOCUMENT" AND CLOSED R.O. IN AN ENVELOPE. ATTACH THE ENVELOPE TO THE TIRE USING CLEAR PACKAGE TAPE WRAPPED COMPLETELY AROUND THE BODY OF THE TIRE PROTECTING THE DOCUMENTS REQUIRED BY THE TIRE COMPANY.
GENERAL MOTORS HAS CONTRACTED WITH UNITED PARCEL SERVICE (UPS) FOR DEALER PICK-UP OF RETURN TIRES AND FREIGHT TO THE TIRE MANUFACTURERS RETURN FACILITY. DEALER WILL NOT BE CHARGED BY UPS FOR FREIGHT CHARGES TO RETURN TIRES. RETURN TIRES WILL BE PICKED UP BY UPS DURING THEIR ROUTINE DEALER DELIVERY SCHEDULE.
UNDER SEPARATE COVER, YOU WILL RECEIVE QUANTITIES OF PRE-ADDRESSED UPS SHIPPING LABELS. THE LABELS ARE TO BE COMPLETELY VISIBLE INCLUDING ANY BAR-CODE LINES. ALL WARRANTED TIRES ARE TO BE RETURNED TO THE APPROPRIATE TIRE COMPANY'S RETURN FACILITY USING THE PRE-ADDRESSED SHIPPING LABELS WITHIN TWO WORKING DAYS.
