Caution: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the fuel filler cap.
  3. Remove the fuel filler pipe (pickup only). Refer to Filler Tube Replacement .
  4. Disconnect the fuel fill hose from the fuel tank (4 door utility only). Refer to Filler Tube Replacement .
  5. Notice: The pickup truck fuel filler pipe contains screens. In order to prevent damage to the screens, do not drain the fuel through the fuel tank filler pipe.

  6. Use a hand operated pump device in order to remove the fuel through the fuel filler hose (pickup), through the fuel filler pipe (2 door utility) or through the fuel tank fill pipe nipple (4 door utility).
