Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 188048  Size: SH
  3. Remove the oil pan drain plug. Drain the engine oil into a suitable container.

  4. Object Number: 397153  Size: SH
  5. Open the access panel in the front underbody shield.
  6. Remove the oil filter from the oil cooler.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 188048  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the oil pan drain plug to the oil pan.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  3. Lubricate the oil filter gasket with clean engine oil.
  4. Install the oil filter to the oil cooler.
  5. Tighten the oil filter following the instructions on the oil filter.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Fill the crankcase with the proper capacity and quality of engine oil.
  8. • Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities in Maintenance and Lubrication.
    • Refer to Explanation of Scheduled Services in Maintenance and Lubrication.
  9. Operate the engine and check for leaks and oil pressure.
  10. Close the access panel in the front underbody shield.
