J 42450-A Hub Cleaning Kit

Removal Procedure

The brake rotor can be removed without separating the caliper from the caliper bracket (JC1 System).

    Important: Do not disconnect the brake hose from the caliper.

  1. Remove the brake caliper. Refer to Front Brake Caliper Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 581489  Size: SH

    Notice: Support the caliper with a piece of wire to prevent damage to the brake line.

  3. Suspend the caliper with a wire.
  4. Remove the brake pads (JC1 System). Refer to Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement .
  5. Remove the caliper bracket. Refer to Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement .
  6. Remove and dispose of the sheet metal retainers (JC1 System).
  7. Remove the wheel bearings (JM3 System). Refer to Front Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement in Front Suspension.
  8. Remove the rotor (1).
  9. Inspect and clean all the parts. Replace parts as necessary.
  10. Refinish the rotor if necessary. Refer to Brake Rotor Refinishing .

Installation Procedure

Notice: Whenever the brake rotor has been separated from the wheel bearing flange, clean any rust or foreign material from the mating surface of the rotor and flange with the J 42450 hub cleaning kit. Failure to do this may result in increased lateral runout of the rotor and brake pulsation.

  1. Use the J 42450-A to clean the hub flange (JC1 System).
  2. Install the wheel bearings (JM3 System). Refer to Front Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement in Front Suspension.

  3. Object Number: 581489  Size: SH
  4. Install the rotor (1).
  5. Install the caliper bracket. Refer to Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement .
  6. Install the brake pads (JC1 System). Refer to Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement .
  7. Install the caliper. Refer to Front Brake Caliper Replacement .
