  1. Raise the front end of the vehicle off of the ground until the wheels are free to turn. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the power steering return hose at the pump inlet connector.
  3. Plug the connector port on the pump.
  4. Position the hose toward a large container in order to catch the draining fluid.
  5. Run the engine at idle while an assistant fills the reservoir with new power steering fluid.

    Important: DO NOT contact the wheel stops or hold the wheel in a corner. Fluid will stop and the pump will be in pressure relief mode. A sudden overflow from the reservoir may develop if the wheel is held at a stop.

  7. Turn the steering wheel from stop to stop.
  8. Install all of the pipes and the hoses.
  9. Fill the system with new power steering fluid.
  10. Bleed the system.
  11. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

  12. Operate the engine for about 15 minutes.
  13. Continue until the draining fluid is clear.
  14. If foreign material is evident in the fluid, replace all of the hoses.
  15. Disassemble and clean all of the power steering components.
  16. Do not reuse any drained power steering fluid.
