Removal Procedure

    Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

       • Air bag deployment
       • Personal injury
       • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
    In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
       • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
       • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Disable the driver side airbag. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the left IP closeout insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  3. Remove the center closeout insulator panel bolt on the left side.
  4. Pull back the closeout insulator panel in order to access the temperature sensor.
  5. Remove the lower air temperature sensor by turning the sensor counterclockwise from the floor air outlet.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the electrical connector to the sensor.
  2. Install the lower air temperature sensor by turning the sensor clockwise to the floor air outlet.
  3. Install the center closeout insulator panel bolt on the left side.
  4. Install the left IP closeout insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  5. Enable the driver side airbag. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
