Did you perform the RAP Diagnostic System Check?

Verify that the RAP is inoperative.

Does the RAP system operate normally?

Test the RAP fuse in the underhood fuse block for an open.

Was the RAP fuse open?

Go to Step 10

  1. Use the scan tool in order to monitor the driver and passenger door handle and jamb switches.
  2. Open and close each door.

Do the inputs change between ACTIVE and INACTIVE?

--

  1. Close all of the doors.
  2. Turn the ignition and start switch to the ON position, then to the OFF position.
  3. Using the scan tool, monitor the RAP timer.

Does the RAP timer count down?

  1. Turn the ignition and start switch to the OFF position.
  2. Open and close the drivers door to deactivate the RAP countdown timer.
  3. Disconnect the RAP relay.
  4. Disconnect the body control module connector C1
  5. Test for an open between the RAP relay connector terminal 86 to the body control module connector C1 terminal A7.

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. Reconnect the body control module connector C1
  2. Test for an open between the RAP relay connector terminals 85 and 87 to the RAP fuse located in the underhood fuse block.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test for an open from the RAP relay connector terminal 30 to the following components:

    • Power window circuit breaker
    • RDO IGN fuse 24
    • STR WHL RDO IGN fuse 18 (if equipped)

Replace the RAP relay.

Is the repair complete?

Locate and repair the short to ground in CKT 542 (RED).

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
