Did you perform the Power Seat Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Verify that the power seat does not recline.

Does the power seat operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Remove the seat back cover to access the power recliner motor. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement .
  2. Disconect the power recliner motor connector
  3. Test the power recliner motor forward recline feed circuit for voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing in wiring systems.
  4. Operate the seat adjuster switch in the FORWARD RECLINE position.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

  1. Remove the seat back cover to access the power recliner motor. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement .
  2. Disconect the seat rear height motor connector
  3. Test between the power recliner motor forward recline feed circuit and the power recliner motor ground circuit for voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing in wiring systems.
  4. Operate the seat adjuster switch in the FORWARD RECLINE position.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

Replace the power recliner motor. Refer to Front Seat Back Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

  1. Test for a high resistance or an open in the power recliner motor forward recline feed circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in wiring systems.
  2. Reinstall any parts that were removed and reconnect any connectors that were disconnected.

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. Test for a high resistance or an open in the power recliner motor ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in wiring systems.
  2. Reinstall any parts that were removed and reconnect any connectors that were disconnected.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the seat adjuster switch. Refer to Power Seat Switch Replacement .
