Circuit Description

The seat adjuster memory module receives the seat manual movement inputs from the seat adjuster switch. The seat adjuster memory module sends a 12 volt reference to the adjuster switch. Operating the switch grounds the appropriate circuit through CKT 1350. This changes the signal from high to low. The seat adjuster memory module supplies battery positive voltage (B+) to the appropriate motors when the appropriate motor's signal is received.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The DTC will set if the seat adjuster memory module detects one of the following conditions:

    • The seat lateral switch forward or rearward input is active and no response is received from the sensor.
    • The seat front height switch front up or front down input is active and no response is received from the sensor.
    • The seat rear height switch front up or front down input is active and no response is received from the sensor.
    • The seat recliner switch forward or rearward input is active and no response is received from the sensor.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • A history DTC will clear after 100 consecutive fault free ignition cycles.
    • Use a scan tool in order to clear history and current DTCs.

Diagnostic Aids

One or more of the following conditions may be the cause of an intermittent failure:

    • A poor connection
    • A break in the wire insulation that exposes the internal wire
    • A wire broken inside the insulation

Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. This step inspects for current DTCs.

  2. This step locates and repairs open(s) in the wiring between the seat adjuster switch and the seat adjuster memory module.

  3. This step locates and repairs short(s) to ground in the wiring between the seat adjuster switch and the seat adjuster memory module.

  4. This step verifies that the seat adjuster memory module is supplying the reference voltage to the seat adjuster switch.

  5. This step replaces a defective seat adjuster switch.

  6. This step replaces a defective seat adjuster memory module.
