DEFINITION: The liftgate/endgate lock cylinder switch does not operate. The remote release function on the rear wiper/washer switch and endgate/liftgate window release switch operates correctly.

Verify that the rear window release is inoperative with the liftgate/endgate lock Cylinder switch.

Does the rear window release operate normally?

  1. Access the liftgate/endgate lock cylinder switch.
  2. Disconnect the connector at the liftgate/endgate lock cylinder switch.
  3. Connect a digital multimeter (DMM) from ground to the CKT 840 (ORN) cavity D of the liftgate/endgate lock cylinder switch. Refer to Circuit Testing in wiring systems.

Is voltage present?

B+

  1. Close the lift window if open.
  2. Ensure that the left front door is unlocked.
  3. Momentarily connect a 3A fused jumper wire between the wires in the liftgate/endgate lock cylinder switch connector cavity D and cavity C. Refer to Circuit Testing in wiring systems.

Did the lift window release actuator operate?

  1. Disconnect the door lock cylinder switch, LH, connector.
  2. Connect a DMM from ground to CKT 1221 (BLK/WHT) in cavity A of the door lock cylinder switch, LH, connector. Refer to Circuit Testing in wiring systems.
  3. Activate the liftgate/endgate lock cylinder switch.

Is voltage present?

  1. Close the lift window.
  2. At the door lock cylinder switch, LH, connector connect a fused jumper wire from CKT 1221 (WHT/BLK) cavity A to CKT 56 (BLK/WHT) at cavity B w/o RKE, or from CKT 1221 (WHT/BLK) cavity C to CKT 56 (BLK/WHT) at cavity A w/RKE. Refer to Circuit Testing in wiring systems.
  3. Activate the liftgate/endgate lock cylinder switch.

Repair the open in CKT 840 (ORN). Refer to Wiring Repairs in wiring systems.

Is the repair complete?

B+

  1. Repair the open circuit in CKT 1221 (WHT/BLK) between the liftgate/endgate lock cylinder switch and the door lock cylinder switch, LH. Refer to Wiring Repairs in wiring systems.
  2. Connect the door lock cylinder switch, LH, connector.
  3. Return the door access panel to normal.

Repair the open in CKT 56 (BLK/WHT). Refer to Wiring Repairs in wiring systems.

Replace the liftgate/endgate lock cylinder switch. Refer to Endgate Lock Cylinder Replacement .
