Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 712114  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the transfer case shield. Refer to Transfer Case Shield Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 648043  Size: SH
  4. Remove the transfer case brace, if equipped.
  5. Remove the vacuum line for the transfer case vacuum switch.
  6. Remove the transfer case vacuum switch.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 712114  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the transfer case vacuum switch
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the transfer case vacuum switch to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  3. Install the transfer case vacuum switch vacuum line.

  4. Object Number: 648043  Size: SH
  5. Install the transfer case brace, if equipped.
  6. Install the transfer case brace bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the transfer case bolt at the engine to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).

  8. Install the transfer case brace bolt at the transfer case.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the transfer case bolt to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).

  10. Install the transfer case shield. Refer to Transfer Case Shield Replacement .
  11. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
