Removal Procedure
- Release the parking brake.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Release the tension on the cables by loosening
the nut at the equalizer.
- Disconnect the rear cables from the equalizer.
- Remove the rear cables from the mounting bracket by depressing
the retaining tabs and pulling rearward.
- Remove the cable support bracket bolt.
- Remove the cable support bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the cable support bracket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the cable
support bracket bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the cable support bracket bolt to 17 N·m (12.6 lb ft).
- Install the rear cables to the mounting bracket
by inserting the cable till all the retaining tabs snap into place.
- Connect the rear cables to the equalizer.
- Tighten the equalizer nut to the intermediate cable at the equalizer.
Tighten
Tighten the equalizer nut to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).
- Remove the safety stands.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Check the operation of the park brake.
