Rear Wiper/Washer System Components
The rear wiper/washer system consists of the following components:
• | Liftglass ajar jamb switch |
• | Rear wiper/washer switch |
• | Rear wiper motor module |
Rear Wiper/Washer System Operation
The rear wiper motor module is part of the rear wiper motor assembly and controls
wiper motor operation. Battery voltage supplied to the wiper motor assembly is used
to operate the wiper motor in all modes and to return the rear wiper arm to the
park position after the wiper switch is turned off. Accessory voltage supplied to
the rear wiper/washer switch is used to supply the rear wiper switch signal circuits
and the rear washer pump. In the LO position, the wiper switch supplies voltage through
an internal resistor on the signal circuit to the wiper motor module. In the HI position,
the wiper switch supplies voltage on the signal circuit to the wiper motor module.
The rear washer control circuit is used to provide the operating voltage for the
rear washer pump for as long as the rear washer switch is pressed. The rear washer
control circuit is also used as a wash signal to the rear wiper motor module.
The liftglass ajar jamb switch will disable the rear wiper when the liftglass
is open. The wiper switch supplies voltage through the closed contacts of the liftglass
ajar jamb switch on the signal circuit to the wiper motor module. When the liftglass
is open, the contacts of the liftglass ajar jamb switch are open which prevents the
voltage on the signal circuit of the rear wiper/washer switch from reaching
the wiper motor module.
