Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).
4.1. | Position the endgate handle upward to gain access to the lower latch rod retaining clip. |
4.2. | Disconnect the retaining clip from the lower latch rod. |
4.3. | Slide the lower latch rod from the retaining clip and the handle. |
4.4. | Position the endgate handle downward to gain access to the upper latch rod retaining clip. |
4.5. | Disconnect the upper latch rod retaining clip from the upper latch rod. |
4.6. | Slide the upper latch rod from the retaining clip. |
2.1. | Position the endgate handle upward to gain access to the lower latch rod retaining clip. |
2.2. | Slide the lower latch rod into the retaining clip and the handle. |
2.3. | Connect the retaining clip to the lower latch rod. |
2.4. | Position the endgate handle downward to gain access to the upper latch rod retaining clip. |
2.5. | Slide the upper latch rod into the retaining clip. |
2.6. | Connect the upper latch rod retaining clip from the upper latch rod. |

Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
