2002 - 2003 Chevrolet and GMC Classic S/T Pickup and Utility the Theft Light/Led on the Radio does not Flash - kw inoperative lamp lock theftdeterrent theftloc

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

The Theft Light/LED On The Radio Does Not Flash. The PCM on a 4 cylinder engine does not send out the complete VIN on class 2 data line to the radio. Since the radio does not see the complete VIN, theft is not learned and defaults to a disabled mode. With the theft being disabled, the red LED will not flash.

This is normal for a Classic S/T Pickup and Utilities with a 4 cylinder engine. This is a software anomaly that will not be corrected.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
