Removal Procedure

Notice: When replacing a speedometer or odometer assembly, federal law requires that the odometer reading of the replacement unit be set to register the same mileage as the prior odometer. If the same mileage cannot be set, the law requires that the replacement odometer be set at zero and a label be installed on the driver's door frame to show the previous reading and the date of replacement.

Important: All warning lamps use a Light Emitting Diode (LED). The LED is not serviceable. If a warning lamp's LED stops functioning, exchange the instrument cluster. A serviceable incandescent light is used in the following components:

   • The high-beam indicator
   • The turn signal indicators
   • The dash lights

Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the instrument panel accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .
  3. Remove the 4 screws that retain the cluster to the instrument panel.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connectors as needed.

  2. Firmly seat the cluster onto the connector.

  3. Connect the electrical connections as needed.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the instrument cluster screws.
  6. Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).
