Removal Procedure

Caution: Always wear protective goggles and gloves when removing exhaust parts as falling rust and sharp edges from worn exhaust components could result in serious personal injury.

Notice: When jacking or lifting the vehicle from the frame side rails, be certain lift pads do not contact the three-way catalytic converter as damage to the converter will result.

Notice: Replacement of exhaust system parts must be OEM standard to ensure that the vehicle operates as designed.

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 180099  Size: SH
  3. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe to manifold flange bolts.
  4. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe from the exhaust manifold.
  5. Remove and discard the seal.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 180099  Size: SH
  1. Install the exhaust manifold pipe and NEW seal to the exhaust manifold.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the exhaust manifold pipe to manifold flange bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust manifold pipe to manifold flange bolts to 30  N·m (22 lb ft).

  5. Lower the vehicle.
