Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tires and wheels assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Clean the hose fittings at both ends. Remove all dirt, grease, and other foreign material.
  4. Use a backup wrench on the brake hose fitting, disconnect the brake pipe from the brake hose.
  5. Important: Install a rubber cap or plug to the exposed brake pipe fitting ends in order to prevent brake fluid loss or contamination.

  6. Install a cap or plug in the brake pipe fitting end.

  7. Object Number: 885  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the brake pipe fitting.
  9. Remove the brake pipe retainer.
  10. Remove the front brake hose support bracket nut and bolt.

  11. Object Number: 344866  Size: SH
  12. Remove the ABS sensor wire bracket bolt from the upper control arm.

  13. Object Number: 355084  Size: SH
  14. Remove the front brake hose bolt and gaskets from the caliper.
  15. Remove the front brake hose.
  16. Remove and discard the metal gaskets. These gaskets may be stuck to the brake caliper and/or the brake hose end.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Install NEW copper brake hose gaskets.

  1. Install the NEW copper brake hose gaskets on the brake hose bolt.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the brake caliper hose bolt top the brake caliper.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the front brake hose bolt to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).

  5. Install the ABS sensor wire bracket bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the ABS sensor wire bracket bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  7. Install the front brake hose support bracket bolt and nut.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the front brake hose nut to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  9. Remove the rubber plug and or cap from the brake pipe fitting.

  10. Object Number: 885  Size: SH

    Important: After installation, ensure that the front flex hose is not twisted and that the front flex hose does not contact any of the other components.

  11. Install the front brake pipe retainer.
  12. Connect the brake pipe fitting to the brake hose.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the brake pipe fitting to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  14. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  15. Install the front tires and wheels assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  16. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
