Removal Procedure
- Remove the brake master cylinder. Refer to
Master Cylinder Replacement
.
- Secure the brake master cylinder in a vise. DO NOT clamp the brake
master cylinder body, secure only at the flange.
- Carefully remove the brake
master reservoir retaining pins.
- Remove the brake master cylinder reservoir body by pulling the
body straight up and away from the cylinder body.
- Remove the seals from
the brake master cylinder.
Installation Procedure
- Inspect the reservoir
for cracks or deformation. Replace the reservoir if necessary.
- Clean the reservoir with clean denatured alcohol.
- Dry the reservoir with non-lubricated compressed air.
- Lubricate the new seals and outer surface area of the reservoir-to-housing
barrels with Delco Supreme 11® (GM P/N 12377967) or equivalent
DOT-3 brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container.
- Install the lubricated seals, make sure they are fully seated.
- Install the reservoir
to the master cylinder body. Use your hand in order to press the reservoir
straight down into the body.
- Carefully install the
brake master cylinder reservoir retaining pins.
- Remove the brake master cylinder from the vise.
- Install the master cylinder. Refer to
