Removal Procedure

- Disable the SIR System. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
.
- Remove the radio. Refer to
Radio Replacement
.
- Remove the I/P storage compartment door. Refer to
Instrument Panel Compartment Door Replacement
.
- Remove the bolts (4) that retain inflatable restraint I/P module to the I/P.
- Remove the nuts (5) from the studs (1) on the I/P module.
- Remove the inflatable restraint module (2) from the I/P (3).
- Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to
Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping

Installation Procedure
- Install the inflatable restraint module (2) to the I/P (3).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts (4) that retain inflatable restraint module to the I/P.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
- Install the nuts (5) to the studs (1) to retain the I/P module to the I/P.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
- Install the radio. Refer to

- Install the I/P storage compartment door. Refer to

- Enable the SIR System. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
