J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  2. Object Number: 404163  Size: SH
  3. Remove the evaporator nut from the accumulator.
  4. Remove the compressor suction hose assembly from the accumulator.
  5. Remove the O-ring seals and discard.
  6. Cap or plug the open lines.
  7. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the accumulator.
  8. Remove the accumulator bracket screw.
  9. Remove the accumulator from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the accumulator to the vehicle.
  2. Install the accumulator bracket screw.
  3. Connect the electrical connectors to the accumulator.
  4. Install new O-ring seals. Refer to O-Ring Replacement in Heating,Ventlation and Air Conditioning.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the compressor suction hose assembly to the accumulator.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the compressor suction hose to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  8. Install the accumulator to the evaporator.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the evaporator nut to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

  10. Evacuate and recharge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  11. Leak test the fitting(s) of the repaired or reinstalled component using the J 39400-A .
