  • Removal Procedure

      Important: Before cutting out a stationary window, apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.

    1. Remove the fixed antenna mast if equipped.
    2. Open the hood.
    3. Remove the window wiper arms. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
    4. Remove the cowl air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Body Front End.

    6. Reposition the front door sealing weatherstrips (1) in order to access to the side reveal molding screws.
    7. It is not necessary to remove the front door sealing weatherstrip completely from the vehicle.

      Caution: When working with any type of glass or sheet metal with exposed or rough edges, wear approved safety glasses and gloves in order to reduce the chance of personal injury.

    8. Remove the screws from the left and right sides of window side reveal moldings.

    9. Object Number: 398501  Size: SH
    10. Remove the window side reveal moldings from the vehicle.
    11. Caution: If broken glass falls into the defroster outlets, it can be blown into the passenger compartment and cause personal injury.

    12. Cover to protect the following parts from broken glass:
    13. 8.1. Upper dash pad
      8.2. Defroster outlets and A/C outlets
      8.3. Seats and carpeting
    14. Remove the rear view mirror. Refer to Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement .

      Important: The upper window reveal molding fills the cavities between the body and window.

      If the reveal molding is stretched or damaged, it cannot be reused. It must be replaced.

    16. Remove the upper window reveal molding (1) if the upper window reveal molding will not release it must be replaced.

    17. Object Number: 698561  Size: SH

      Important: The window lower supports (1) have molded in locks with an urethane adhesive strip (2) on the back side. Once the window lower stop have been removed they must be replaced.

    18. Remove the window lower supports (1) by using a flat bladed tool, lightly prying upward in the middle until it releases.

      Important: Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the window.

    20. This will allow the urethane adhesive to be separated from the window.
    21. • Leave a base of urethane on the pinchweld flange.
      • The only suitable lubrication is clear water.
      • Use J 24402-A , J 39032 or equivalent in order to remove the window.

    22. Remove the bottom of the window from the urethane adhesive using a long utility knife or similar tool. Keep the cutting edge of the utility knife against the glass.

    24. With the aid of an assistant (2) remove the window (1) from the vehicle.

    Installation Procedure

    1. Install a stationary window into the opening. Refer to Adhesive Installation of Stationary Windows .

    2. Object Number: 398501  Size: SH
    3. Install the window side reveal moldings to the vehicle.

    4. Object Number: 398502  Size: SH

      Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    5. Install the screws to the left and right sides of window side reveal moldings.
    6. Tighten
      Tighten the window side reveal moldings screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

    7. Install the front door sealing weatherstrips (1) to the retainer (2).
    8. Install the cowl air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
    9. Install the window wiper arms. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
    10. Install the antenna mast, if equipped.
    11. Install the rear view mirror. Refer to Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement .
    12. Close the hood.
    13. Remove the double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.
