Schematic Reference: Power Window Schematics

DEFINITION: This diagnostic procedure should be used to diagnosis a failure of the express down power window feature.

Did you perform the Power Door Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Door Systems

1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2. Depress the power window switch in the down position and hold it for approximately one second.
3. Release the power window switch.

Does the power window continue in the down direction after the switch is released?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Turn the ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect the power window control module.
3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
4. Connect a test lamp between the RAP supply voltage circuit at the power window control module harness connector and a good ground.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 6

Connect a test lamp between the power window up control circuit at the power window control module harness connector and B+.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 7

Inspect for poor connections at the power window control module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 8

Repair the open in the RAP supply voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 9

Repair the open in the power window up control circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 9

Replace the power window control module.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 9

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
