This bulletin is being reissued to correct the implementation date of the new design selective washer from March, 1983 to June 17, 1983.
Beginning in late March, 1983, a new design selective washer went into production that is used on the following parts:
Turbine shaft to output shaft - THM 200C.
Forward clutch shaft to output shaft - THM 200-4R.
These parts are made from a different material and can be identified as shown in Figure 1.
When servicing any THM 200C and 200-4R or transmission that necessitates the replacement of the selective washer due to wear or damage, follow the service procedure on the following page.
1. Inspect the two (2) shafts for wear or damage on the selective washer mating surfaces. If wear or damage is found, replace the shafts to prevent future wear.
2. Select the proper selective washer from the chart below:

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
