A GM Goodwrench engine (GM P/N 25519459) is now available through WDDGM for some current and past-model vehicles equipped with 3.8L V6, 231 cu. in. engines. All GM Goodwrench engines are manufactured with new components.
These replacement engines will provide prompt service and customer satisfaction for the owner of the vehicle. The applications for the GM Goodwrench 3.8L, V6 engines is as follows; 1979, only engines with VIN Code "2" and 1980-84 engines with VIN Code "A".
Some 1979 and 1980 models will require use of original oil pan and oil pick up pipe.
WHAT'S INCLUDED? ---------------- Cylinder block assembly, connecting rod and piston assemblies, crankshaft (which will accept an automatic or manual transmission), camshaft, cylinder head assemblies; including valve trains, camshaft and crankshaft sprockets with chain, timing gears and timing cover, oil pump and screen, oil pan, four (4) quarts factory fill oil, and an installation instruction sheet.
WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED? --------------------
Intake manifold and related plumbing, exhaust manifolds, alternator, distributor with its coil and wiring, torsional damper, flywheel, clutch housing, clutch and related parts, carburetor, fuel pump, water pump, spark plugs, pulleys and belts, (these parts are generally transferable from the engine that is being replaced).
When using this engine, the water pump, fuel pump, intake manifold gaskets, and intake manifold end seals must be replaced.
The special instructions below should be followed when using this new assembly:
1979 Remove and discard oil pan and oil pump suc- tion pipe and screen assembly from the new engine assembly. Take the same parts from replaced engine and install them on the new engine.
1980 If the oil dipstick is stamped with P/N 1257413 (red handle), then follow the instructions above from 1979. If the oil dipstick is stamped with P/N 2550547 (black handle), assembly can be used as supplied with this engine.
1982 Thru Present Three (3) accessory drive mounting holes located front and rear of the cylinder heads must be tapped to M10 x 1.5 threads.
Care should be taken when perform- ing this operation as the 3/8-16 thread can be stripped if tap is started improperly. After tapping the holes, the metric attaching bolts from the replaced engine can be used.
GM Goodwrench 3.8L, V6, engines use current model parts. When servicing vehicles with 3.8L engines, it will be necessary to determine if a GM Goodwrench 3.8L engine has been installed. Each GM Goodwrench 3.8L, V6 engine will have a distinctive label on the left rocker arm cover making the engine readily identifiable for ordering service parts.
Any warranty claims submitted to Chevrolet for the installation of a GM Goodwrench 3.8L, V6 engine will require authorization for complete assembly, and they are to be submitted using the following labor operation number. List the applicable engine part number in the "Failed Part Number column.

With AIR - 0.2 Monte Carlo, Malibu, El Camino, Caprice Classic and Impala
With Turbo - 1.6 Malibu, Monte Carlo and El Camino
Includes: R&R hood, belts, fan and flywheel cover, D&C exhaust pipes, fuel and vacuum lines, linkage, starter and hoses, drain and refill engine oil (if required) and coolant. Transfer oil pan and pick up tube, intake and exhaust manifolds, distributor, water pump and fuel pump. Also included time to transfer all required parts.
