SEAT ADJUSTMENT INTERFERENCE ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE FOR NOISE

ON SOME 1982 'F' STYLES, WHEN THE SEAT IS MOVED TO THE FULL REARWARD POSITION THE LOWER TABS OF UPPER COVER CONTACTS THE LOWER ADJUSTER CHANNEL CAUSING A SNAPPING SOUND. THIS CONDITION CAN BE CORRECTED BY REMOVING COVER MATERIAL AS DESCRIBED BELOW: 1.SLIDE THE SEAT ASSEMBLY REARWARD AND REMOVE THE ADJUSTER-TO-SEAT FRAME REAR ATTACHING BOLTS. 2.LIFT UPWARD ON THE SEAT AND REMOVE THE UPPER CHANNEL REAR COVERS. 3.CUT THE COVER TABS WITH COMPOUND LEVERAGE SNIPS (STRAIGHT CUT) OR A SIMILAR TOOL AS SHOWN IN THE ILLUSTRATION. 4.FINISH THE EDGES USING A FINE FILE. 5.INSTALL THE COVERS FULLY FORWARD OVER THE SEAT ADJUSTER UPPER CHANNELS AND INSTALL THE ADJUSTER-TO-FRAME ATTACHING BOLTS AND TORQUE TO 20 TO 28 N.M (15 TO 21 FT. LBS.). 6.FOR ADDITIONAL CLEARANCE, LOOSEN AND LOWER THE REAR LOWER ADJUSTER COVERS.
