THE FOLLOWING CHART SHOWS THE REAR AXLE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE THAT SHOULD BE USED ON THE 1981 AND 1982 CHEVROLET PASSENGER CAR AND LIGHT DUTY TRUCK VEHICLES. VEHICLE: 1981-82 F, B AND G PASSENGER AND EL CAMINO REAR AXLE USAGE: STANDARD AXLE MAINTENANCE STATEMENT: SEE (A) TYPE OF LUBRICANT: SAE 80W GL-5 OR SAE 80W-90 GL-5 GEAR LUBRICANT. VEHICLE: 1981-82 LIGHT DUTY TRUCK REAR AXLE USAGE: LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL MAINTENANCE STATEMENT: SEE (C) TYPE OF LUBRICANT: SAE 80W GL-5 OR SAE 80W-90 GL-5 GEAR LUBRICANT. IN CANADA USE SAE 80W GL-5 GEAR LUBRICANT. (*) NO ADDITIVE. VEHICLE: 1981-82 LIGHT DUTY TRUCK REAR AXLE USAGE: STANDARD AXLE MAINTENANCE STATEMENT: SEE (D) TYPE OF LUBRICANT: SAE 80W GL-5 OR SAE 80W-90 GL-5 GEAR LUBRICANT. IN CANADA USE SAE 80W GL-5 GEAR LUBRICANT. (*) (*) P/N 1052271 (24 OZ. CONTAINER), P/N 1052272 (15 GAL. CONTAINER) GEAR LUBRICANT CAN BE USED. (A) WHEN USING VEHICLE TO PULL A TRAILER, LUBRICANT SHOULD BE CHANGED EVERY 7,500 MILES (12,000 KM) ; OTHERWISE, NO CHANGE INTERVAL IS REQUIRED. (B) CHANGE LUBRICANT AT THE FIRST 7,500 MILES (12,000 KM). NO ADDITIONAL CHANGE IS REQUIRED UNLESS THE VEHICLE IS USED TO PULL A TRAILER. IN WHICH CASE, THE LUBRICANT SHOULD BE CHANGED AT 7,500 MILES (12,000 KM) INTERVALS. (C) CHANGE LUBRICANT AT THE FIRST 7,500 MILES (12,000 KM). NO ADDITIONAL CHANGE IS REQUIRED UNLESS THE VEHICLE IS USED TO PULL A TRAILER OR IN SEVERE OPERATING CONDITIONS. IN WHICH CASE, THE LUBRICANT SHOULD BE CHANGED AT 7,500 MILES (12,000 KM) INTERVALS ON LIGHT-DUTY EMISSION VEHICLES AND AT 6,000 MILES (9,600 KM) INTERVALS ON HEAVY-DUTY EMISSION VEHICLES. (D) WHEN USING VEHICLE TO PULL A TRAILER OR IN SEVERE OPERATING CONDITIONS, LUBRICANT SHOULD BE CHANGED EVERY 7,500 MILES (12,000 KM) OR LIGHT-DUTY EMISSIONS OR 6,000 MILES (9,600 KM) ON HEAVY-DUTY EMISSIONS; OTHERWISE, NO CHANGE INTERVAL IS REQUIRED.
