TRANS OIL EXHAUSTING OUT 700R4 GASKET INFORMATION

Model and Year 1983-84 "S/T" 10 AND "C/K/G" 10-20 SERIES TRUCKS, CAMARO, CORVETTE, CAPRICE AND CAPRICE WAGONS

This cancels and replaces Chevrolet Dealer Service Bulletin 84-61 dated February, 1984. Previous copies should be destroyed. This new issue corrects model designations printed in error on the previous copy.

Beginning July 15, 1983 (Julian Date 169), all 700-R4 transmissions were produced using a new oil pump cover (Figure 1) and a new pump to case gasket (Figure 2), that prevents transmission oil from exhausting out the breather during harsh deceleration during sharp turns.

When servicing any 1983 or 1984 THM 700-R4 transmissions for transmission oil pump cover and pump to case gasket, use the service packages listed below:

ORDER SERVICE MODELS PACKAGE NUMBER ------- ---------------

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
