INJECTOR PLUGGING P/N'S FOR REPEAT PLUGGING

MODEL AND YEAR: 1985-86 CAMARO WITH PRI ENGINES (VIN CODE F)

In response to General Motors request for high-detergent fuels, almost all gasoline marketers now provide fuel which should prevent injector plugging. In addition to improved fuels, General Motors has released fuel injectors with increased resistance to plugging. The following steps are recommended to service port fuel injection conditions:

To Correct Injector Plugging: (All models and years) ---------------------------- 1. Clean injectors, using tool J-35800. 2. Recommend the use of high-detergent fuel.

Any additional occurrences (1985-1986)

Injectors more resistant to plugging have been released in 1987 fuel rails with date codes after 12-5-86. These injectors cannot be used in 1985-86 manifolds. However, improved service injectors are available for 1985-1986 vehicles that continue to have injector problems. These 1985-86 service injectors are of a different manufacturer and must only be used in complete sets of eight. The attached chart provides correct part numbers for service applications.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
