Driver/passenger front seat back trim has possible hole on outboard side.
When rear seat back is folded down, shoulder belt guide loop may contact front seat. Movement of the front seat causes wear by the guide loop creating a hole.
Replace front seat back trim. Reinforce area behind trim to spread any load by inserting a piece of heavy cardboard (3 thickness of poster board) 16 1/2 X 13 1/2 inches between seat back and new trim cover. See Illustration. Secure cardboard in place with tape.
New guide loop and belt assemblies should be available for service of 1989/90 models in April of 1990. New part numbers will be issued when parts become available.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
