VACUUM HOSE SPLIT (REPLACE HOSE)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1989 F-CAR ALL ENGINES WITH AIR CONDITIONING AND/OR CRUISE CONTROL

Some of the above vehicles, built prior to breakpoints shown below may exhibit an audible engine vacuum leak, rough engine idle or inoperative air conditioning and/or cruise control. This condition may be caused by a split in the short vacuum hose on the left side of check valve, located at the top rear of the engine.

This condition may be addressed by replacing the split hose with a 1-1/4 inch length of 5/32 I.D. double walled vacuum hose obtained locally or GM service bulk hose, P/N 9438381.

The VIN breakpoints are as follows:

Chevrolet F-Car L107709

Pontiac F-Car L207264

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
