STEERING STOP CRUNCH NOISE-USE HIGH TEMP. WATER RESIST GREASE

Subject: STEERING STOP CRUNCH NOISE

Model and Year: 1990-91 CAMARO

CONDITION:

--------- Some 1990-91 F-cars may exhibit a crunch type noise coming from the front of the vehicle during full right or left turning maneuvers that is referred to as steering stop crunch.

CAUSE:

----- Movement of lower control arm steering stop on steering knuckle during full turn type maneuvers generates crunch type noise.

CORRECTION:

---------- Apply a thin film (approximately 1 mm thick) of high temperature water resistant grease, P/N 12345996 (1.75 oz. tube) to the contacting surfaces of both the steering stops and steering knuckles as shown in illustration.
