ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT SQUEAL OR CHIRP NOISE, A/C ON, REP. BELT

Subject: ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT CHIRP, SQUEAL OR RATTLE WITH AIR CONDITIONING ON

Model and Year: 1990-92 CAMARO WITH 3.1L ENGINE

Condition: Belt chirp, squeal or rattle (with A/C on).

Cause: Belt whipping and slips due to belt cord material stretch.

Correction: Replace the belt with a new Kevlar cord material belt, P/N 14097664. If after installing the new belt, the belt does not have tension, replace the tensioner. If the new belt has tension, check the tension according to the Service Manual instructions. Replace the tensioner ONLY if the belt tension is out of specification.
